Now the Goldilocks of the iPad range, the Air offers performance that matches the previous Pro model and yet comes at a more affordable price. While the screen isn’t quite as impressive, it still looks great for movies and allows the use of the new Apple Pencil Pro. On balance, this is the model that most people should buy.

This iPad isn’t exciting enough to switch to from an M1 iPad Air. It makes sense for you to upgrade if you have an ancient A-chip iPad, though. I also wouldn’t recommend this if you’re looking for a hardcore machine that can handle everything for you. The iPad Pro is for that. The M1 iPad Air is very easy to pass on. The upgrades aren’t very exciting, and nothing you can find on this isn’t present on the Pro. If anything, the lighter and slimmer Pro is more of an iPad Air than the actual iPad Air itself.

The iPad Air remains Apple’s best overall tablet, offering a compelling blend of features while keeping a reasonable price. And the new 13-inch Air is a great option for someone who wants a big display without spending as much money.

The iPad Air says, "Don't fix me if I ain't broken." Aside from a new 13-inch size and relocated webcam, there aren't many changes design-wise, but the M2 chip brings sweet energy efficiency and a performance uptick.
